The proposed PhD, ‘The revolution is everyday’, lies at the intersection of observational filmmaking and protests. I seek to explore how observational filmmaking techniques can reveal new dimensions of protests and, conversely, how looking at protests can challenge or deepen the observational form itself. I propose to do this by developing a theoretical framework, and by creating an observational piece focused on a particular anti-caste protest in India using the same.
The project is being done at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna.
